Simple Soldered Pendants
By Vanessa Spencer

Soldering is a process in which two or more metal items are joined together by melting and flowing a filler metal into the joint, the filler metal having a relatively low melting point. Solder is actually a metal alloy (a mixture of metals) which is heated in order to join one piece of metal to another piece of metal.

Safety is really important so always be sure to follow the manufacturer’s guidelines and recommendations. Wear safety glasses because solder can pop and spit. A dust mask is necessary if you are more advanced and sanding or cutting your own glass. It is not recommended that you solder near children. Keep all your tools and materials out of children’s reach. Solder on a non-stick craft sheet to avoid damaging your table or countertop surface.

Supplies used in this video are listed below for your convenience. If you are a beginner, you only need a few basic tools to get started. The Simply Solder Creative Art Kit, a non-stick craft sheet, and a retractable knife are essential beginner tools.
