Hats Off To You
by Mona Gettmann (project was inspired by artist Jennifer Jenson's project in the "Paper Cachet" by Making Memories (5PP-26588) on page 45)
Measure up 1 1/2" from the bottom of a clean plastic frosting container and cut away excess with scissors. Turn the trimmed container over and attach a circle of batting to the trimmed container. Trace the container dimensions onto a sheet of Provo Craft Paper - Blue Party Dots (5PR-42-4827) paper and cut into a slightly larger circle. Snip the circle repeatedly up to the traced lines. Place the circle onto the top of the container and glue the tabs onto the sides of the container. Cut a 3" strip from a sheet of Provo Craft - Brick Diamond (5PR-42-4841) paper and fold in half. Glue the folded strip to the outside and inside of the container, trimming off any excess paper, as shown. Cut three 1" strips from the Blue Party Dots paper and fold the strips in half. Glue one strip around the container and create a bow effect with the two remaining strips, as shown. Glue the paper bow to the container. Apply glue to the top of the covered container and sprinkle with Diamond Dust Fine Clear Glass Glitter (5AG-613) and tap off excess. Apply glue to the paper bow and band on the container and sprinkle with Krystallos Clear Glass Shards Glitter (5AG-901). Tap off the excess. Using Designer Dries Clear Glue by Art Glitter (5AG-DDC02) edge the top and bottom edges of the container and sprinkle with Glass Glitter. Tap off excess and set aside to dry. Cover both sides of a cardboard panel with Brick Diamond paper. Trim the panel into a large circle. Edge the circle with the glue and glitter, as before. Attach the covered container to the circle with a small hinge from Brass Hinges (5KC-558090 - Discontinued) using ribbon or brads to create a hatbox effect. Attach a three inch strip of Pink Provo Craft - Pink Party Dots (5PR-42-4828) paper and Blue Party Dots paper together back to back. Using decorative scissors cut out three circles that are slightly smaller than the hatbox. Using Misunderstood Foam Alphabet Set (5MA-26096) and brown ink, stamp the words hats off to you on the circles, as shown. Edge the circles with brown chalk. Punch holes in the circles, as shown. Attach small copper eyelet stickers from Copper Brads & Eyelets (5ST-AC623C - Discontinued) over the holes. Place lengths of ribbon from Spring Fibers & Ribbon (5FLSPFIB) through the holes and tie into knots. Trim the ends of the ribbons. Place the circles into the hatbox.
