Twinkling H20s

"A rainbow of sparkling colors one could only dream of..." These watercolor paints are highly pigmented, lightfast, brilliant shimmering watercolors in a wide range of colors.  The amount of water used determines if the color is opaque, translucent or transparent.  They are easy to use and the paint dries to a shiny, micro-fine mica glittered finish!  The 48 colors we carry begin as a solid hard-pan cake contained in their 5 gram tiny tubs, in packs of 6, 12 and 24.  Use them in any paper project, as well as on canvas, wood and any other porous surface.  The H20s are non-toxic, acid-free and archival safe.

You may paint with Twinkling H20s in the traditional way with a paint brush, or use the Direct to Rubber technique.  Here are a few tips on how to use these marvelous paints:

General Use:

  • Open the jars and wake up the color by spray misting water on the surface of the paint cakes.  Allow the water to soak in for 3-5 minutes.  Mist a second time and wait a couple more minutes.  Use a paintbrush to mix to a creamy texture.
  • Best when used on good water color paper (90 -140 weight)
  • Water is all you need to wash the color off your stamps.
  • Allow cakes of paint to dry prior to putting the caps back on.

Paint Stamped Image:

  • Use pigment ink (dye ink will become distorted or muted) to stamp your image and emboss the outlines for a crisp image.  The embossed lines will resist the paint and won't disappear.

Direct to Rubber:

  • Choose rubber stamps that have deeply etched, wide lined, bold graphic and large surface area designed images (shallow tiny detailed or photographic stamps will not work well with this technique).
  • Mix the paint to a creamy (a little thinner than toothpaste) consistency.
  • Use a DRY brush to paint the H2Os across the top of rubber stamps – use and layer several colors at one time to add interest.
  • If the paint begins to dry on the stamp, simply use a spray bottle 3 to 6 inches from the stamp allowing the water to gentle rain on the rubber.  You may use the painted stamp multiple times by misting with water whenever the paint becomes drier between stampings.
The intense and shimmering hue of these beautiful watercolor paints will inspire you!

Using Copper-Embossing Powder (5ST-DP104) and clear embossing pad, emboss Rose Stemmed Hearts (C8460) on a patterned tag. Watercolor the tag with pink and gold Twinkling H20s from the Exotics 24pk (5LU-TW2455). Loop a gold ribbon through the tag hole. Attach a text sticker to the bottom of the tag. Copper-emboss Dandelion Print (C8401) twice end-to-end on cream patterned paper and repeat a second time on the same paper, spacing the images for the prepared tag to be placed in the center of the panel. Copper-emboss the same image two additional times on the remaining portion of the paper and trim closely. Cut two slits in the top and bottom portions of the panel and glue the two cutouts into the slits, creating a frame, as shown. Tear off the edges of the panel. Watercolor the edges and the sides of the panel with gold and pink Twinkling H20s from the same pack. Attach flowers from pink, cream and brown flowers from English Garden Botanical Mix (5PM-506179) and Wild Flowers Botanical Mix (5PM-506193) to the tag and panel with Mini Brads-Circle-Antique Copper (5MA-23538). Mount the tag to the center of the panel with foam tape. Cover a square matboard with coordinating brown patterned-paper. Glue the prepared panel to the matboard. Attach lengths of gold ribbon diagonally to the corners of the matboard with Antique Copper Decorative Brads (5MA-23741). Glue gold and pink loops of ribbon to the top of the matboard for a hanger.
