Easter Envelope Book and Market Basket Gift Set
by Angela Hoffman
Envelope Book Instructions:
Create book by first folding 5 Kraft paper envelopes (5KP-DSKIT) in half, with flaps open flap sides to the inside. Use an extra envelope to trace flap shape with pencil from the inside fold to 1/4 way into a new flap. You will be creating two flaps from one. Trim away excess. Line each envelope with decorative papers, trim around flaps. Sew each of the envelopes together along center fold, adding a new layer each time, only sewing through two envelopes each time, flip to next set each time. Decorate your book first by DTP with spring colored chalk inks along the edges and then stamping with Christine Adolph's Fresh Flowers Collage Cube (C8418), Blooming Bold (C8400) and Trims X4 (C8417) with spring colors and brown. Soften images with more chalk inks. Next cut out images from Cavallini’s Easter Greeting postcard (5CPEASTER) and decorate the left side of each blank side of the envelope pages. Decorate the last 4 right sides by making pockets from 1 1/2" wide strip from bottom edges of 2 more envelopes cut with decorative scissors. Cut in half, fold under cut ends, stamp in brown with Trims X4 (C8417) stamp, and glue onto page to make pocket. Insert B. Shackman Hopper Family paper dolls (5SHHOPPER) into each of the 4 pockets. Use the envelope openings to store additional paper doll pieces for each of the bunnies. For the cover glue on a piece of ribbon leaving about 8" inches on each end to tie closed, glue on image from postcards (5CPEASTER). Decorate the envelope opening sides by gluing on various ribbons, lace, felt flowers, Prima Flowers, jewel centers, and additional Easter images from ATC Paper Pad Spring (5LA-6510). Lastly doodle around flowers and on stamped images. Have fun with this!
Market Basket Instructions:
Stamp 4-5 sheets of Kraft paper (5KP-DSKIT) in brown ink with Christine Adolph’s Fresh Flowers Collage Cube (C8418). Crinkle up and then smooth back out. Cut into 1" strips lengthwise. Glue 13 sets of 2 strips together end to end. Create a base with heavy cardstock from a 10x12 piece of paper. Score all four of the edges 3" in. Fold along score, pushing corner triangles to outside, folding and gluing flat against long side (this will be covered with the weaving). Weave basket around the base by using 4 strips the long way and 6 the short way alternating the weave. Glue here and there to secure to base. Once the bottom is covered fold up each of the sides, Secure an additional strip to one of the sides and weave around the sides. Glue and alternate weaving two more strips around the base, Glue ends to base, Use two more strips glued end to end, folded in half length wise to cover trimmed ends of basket. To create the handles cut 2 strips 11 x2 1/4" folded into thirds lengthwise, insert a piece of cardstock the width and length of the handle to give it more stability. Attach to basket with brads as shown in picture. Decorate with felt flowers (I found mine in the garden section of my local hobby store ... it was a spring garland), more Prima Flowers and rhinestone centers.
