Remove
the text block from an old book. Cover the book boards and spine with
new paper. Replace the end paper with complementary paper. Age the cover
and end papers with sandpaper and sepia ink. Tear six watercolor papers
the height and double the width of the book cover. Crease and fold each
paper in half, which will make 12 text pages. Stain with coffee and
green watercolor paint. Color copy, tear the edges, and adhere prints
of Indian art to the odd-numbered pages. Age the art with coffee and
green watercolor paint. Transfer photocopies of wood block images to
the even-numbered pages using the wet method. Nestle two pages together
to make a signature (three groups of four pages). Using waxed linen
thread, sew the signatures to the spine leaving tails at the top and
bottom. String beads onto the thread and tie a knot to secure. Braid
the three ends together (top and bottom). Finish with another bead.
