Canvases Natural

These natural weave canvases are an exciting way to bring your memory and mixed-media art out on display in your home!  Decorate these canvases with paint, paper, photos, fabric.  Use craft hinges or screw eyes to connect multiples and hang or set on shelves or table tops.  No frame is required for your finished piece as the natural weave canvas wraps all the way around a lightweight wood frame and is neatly tucked into a groove in the back.  The canvas is archival safe, un-primed and each pack comes in pairs (with four screw eyes.)

Angel's Garden
by Diane Michioka

Melt Natural Beeswax Pellets (5YE-112121) in Melting Pot (5SW-SUZI4706). Use flat craft brush to "paint" the vertical stripes on one 4" x 4" Natural Canvas (5CV-70401) and the vertical drip lines on a second canvas. Sprinkle several drops of Peeled Paint (5TH-TIM20295) and Shabby Shutters Distress Re-Inkers (5TH-TIM21612) and off to the side of that add drops of Old Paper (5TH-TIM19442) onto a Non-Stick Craft Sheet (5RI-NSC20677), spritz a few times with water, drag and lift both canvases through the ink, covering all surfaces. Add more distress ink to craft sheet, as needed. Let dry. Trim lace to 5", and lightly stain with distress inks. Trim angel girl from Winged Cuties Collage Sheet (5ARWINGED). Select seven Pressed Rose Buds (5PRE-560E), and one Pressed Pink Larkspur (5PRE-560H). Place lace, image, and flowers as shown. Sprinkle flecks of Gold German Leaf Fritters (5SM-GL814G-DZ) as shown. Using flat craft brush, lay melted wax over each piece until completely covered and setting them in place on the canvas. To smooth out melted wax on canvas and to create a more transparent look, re-melt wax with Coloriser Heat Tool (5EK-EKHG01) on low and use flat brush to smooth wax (careful not to remove too much wax that pieces no longer adhere to canvas.) Let dry. Emphasize lace detail on left canvas by rubbing a touch of white acrylic paint from Making Memories Cityscape (5MA-23751) with fingertip into lace. Hinge together with craft hinges.

A Pirate's Life For Me
by Anita Byers

Take two 4" x 8" Natural Canvases (5CB-70466) and apply Distress Inks (coming soon to the Shoppe). Use sponges to apply ink. Use water to move the ink around canvas. This method is shown in Tim Holtz's book Distressables (5PP-DE5262) and his new DVD, "The Journey Continues" (5PG-TJC84309). When dry, use the Melting Pot by Suze Weinberg (5SW-SUZI4706) to melt Natural Beeswax Pellets (5YE-112121) and apply beeswax to canvas with brush. When first layer of wax is dry, start applying the various layers of Antique Chinese Coins Reproductions (5ASCOINSMD), Antique Skeleton Key (5DCKEY), Grubby Tag (5GG-GRUBTAG-LG), Seashell Beads (5SM-03-145-2), all other Pirates of the Caribbean ephemera. Glue down wooded game piece letters that spell "PIRATE" and the Bottle (5SM-MULTI) with German Gold Leaf Fritters (5SM-GL814G-DZ) with Diamond Glaze (5JK-DIAMOND2). Join the two canvases with hinges.
