Cover

The Danelle Book box (5CI-16315) makes a great project for an “A Year in Art” but it can be used for many other themes also!

Paint the entire box with tan acrylic paint.

Glue vintage ledger or handwritten paper to the cover and outside edges.

Cut a strip of the red patterned paper from the Christine Adolph Winter Garden kit and glue to the inside cover.

Stamp the number "365" onto a small piece of vintage paper and glue onto the strip.

This project requires various shades of acrylic paint. You can see our various collections of paint below:

January, February, March

January Book: Paint with a blue acrylic paint. Add a Basic Grey paint rub-on strip down the spine. Add the Happy Hour Cocktails image which is from the homemade journaling pad.

February Book: Paint the book with red acrylic paint and allow to dry. Add a strip down the spine of the valentine image from the Mixed Holiday ATC paper pad. Cut a square of paper from the pink striped ledger paper in the foofala paper kit and glue onto the cover. Add a red oval sticker from the Jenni Bowlin Red kit to the front.

March Book: Paint the book with a brown acrylic paint. Add a strip of velvet green ribbon down the spine. Cut out a St. Patrick’s Day image from the Mixed Holiday ATC paper pad and glue the image to the front of the book.

April, May, June

April Book: I wanted the “April showers” theme for this book. Paint the book with white acrylic paint. Used the images of the girl with the umbrellas from the “Francais” collage sheet by Mary Mata. Use the larger one for the book cover and cut down the smaller one for the spine.

May Book: April showers bring May flowers! So I thought a flower book would be appropriate for May. Simply paint with a yellow acrylic paint. Using the embellishments included in the Prima Morning Song kit I added the flowers to the front and the yellow ribbon I glued down the spine.

June Book: A beach theme was used for this June! Paint the whole book with a sea green acrylic paint. Use the ATC card from the ARTchix sea treasure buttons kit and cut the image off to glue onto the front and use a small strip for the spine.

July, August, September

July Book: Cover the outside of a book with red paper from the Modern Romance Paper Pack. Cut a strip of blue paper from the same paper pack, and glue it to the center of the covers. Once dry, stamp text from the Collage Cube onto the covers and spine using Blank Canvas acrylic paint. Tie a bow into a length of white Scrapper's Floss and glue onto the cover, securing the ends inside the book. Stamp "JUL" onto the bottom right corner using the Typewriter Alphabet stamps and Jet Black StazOn ink.

August Book: Affix paper from Artist Paper Pack 2 onto the front and back covers of a book. Paint the spine with Yellow Pastel acrylic paint and allow to dry thoroughly. Glue two Artful Collage Leaves onto the front cover, and add yellow paper flowers to the spine and cover. Stamp "Aug" onto the top left corner using the Typewriter Alphabet stamps and Jet Black StazOn ink.

September Book: Cover the front and back of a book with paper from the Soho Journey pad. Cut an image from the Birdsong collage sheet and glue to the front of the book. Attach ribbon from the Beige Ribbon Collection to the spine and handwrite "sept" down the right edge of the book.

October, November, December

October Book: Cover the front and back cover with Halloween-themed paper from Artist Paper Pack 1. Carefully cut a bat from the Enchanted Bones collage sheet and affix to the front cover. Add rub-ons reading "[oct]" to the front, and attach ribbon from Elysee Ribbon Collection 1 to the spine.

November Book: Paint the spine and covers of a book with Metallic Bronze paint. Once dry, cover the front and back of the book with autumn-themed paper that has a zigzag edge, leaving some of the bronze paint exposed. Add pebble letters reading "nov" to the front cover, and wrap a small piece of tan decorative ribbon around the upper edge.

December Book: Glue red and green paper from the Soho Journey pad to the front and back covers of a book. Use the Mini Library Pocket Punch to create a pocket from a sheet of vintage book text. Decorate the pocket with a rub-on from the black Euro Rub-Ons sheet. Glue the pocket to the front cover and insert an image from the Christmas Post Faux Postage sheet into the pocket. Glue green ribbon from the Lauren Trims set onto the spine, and stamp the letters "dec" onto the lower right corner using Nick Bantock Ink in Chartreuse Leaf.

Odds & Ends – Bits & Pieces
By Vanessa Spencer

I had purchased this 12" x 12" storage box from a discount store and knew it would be perfect to alter! All the papers used are from the Angelique IOD Kit (5PM-810504). I used the single slide mailers (5PS-SLIDE1) for the labels on each drawer. I painted them with acrylic paint then glued a piece of coordinating paper from the Angelique IOD Kit. Using the black lace ribbons from the Elysee ribbons (5PM-519490 & 5PM-519513) I cut the down and made borders around the slide mailer labels. I used black alphabet stickers for the labels – for a fun look try alternating the upper and lower case to give it a “junky” look!

Timeless Perpetual Calendar
By Sarah Meehan

Cut 24 images from the Angels and Madonnas and Small Mix Collage Sheets by ARTchix, and glue to all sides of four Josh Wood Blocks (5CI-16284). Once dry, brush all sides with diluted Gesso (5GO-3550) until desired effect is achieved. Allow the cubes to dry thoroughly. Use your computer to lay out a sheet containing all twelve months along with the numbers 0-9 (with two each of "1" and "2"). Print the document onto a sheet of ExtravOrganza (5JQ-JAC9703). Trim all elements, leaving a little excess to allow for fraying. Attach the elements to the cubes using Glue Dots () or the Borderline Glue Stick (5AT-BORDERLINE). Place the numbers 1-6 on one cube, and 7-9 plus 0-2 on the second cube.

Blue Moon Evening Clutch
By Vanessa Spencer

Simple, elegant and artistic! Use your favorite papers from the Basic Grey Periphery Collection (5BG-CPIP924) and cut the down to fit onto the outside of the Amy Clutch (5CI-16338) and also onto the ends of the clutch. Spray the entire inside with Denim Blue Glimmer Mist (5TA-DEBLUE). Add the swirly black diamond crystals (5PM-522964) to the outside and if desired also on the inside.

Sweet Bites Lunchbox
by Emily Wong

With the Jack Box (5CI-16283), remove the lid and handle from the body.

Body: Apply two coats of Sherbert Scrapbook Colors Kit - Strawberries & Cream (5MA-23675). Using the bottom as a template, trace and cut out from Modern Romance Paper Pack – No. 8 (5DD-5506). With No. 1, cut out ephemera and apply it onto No. 8 paper. Trim corners and apply paper to the lunchbox bottom with Designer Dries Clear (5AI-DDC02). Adhere two flowers from Making Memories Naked Line Sampler (5MA-23668 - Discontinued) to the upper right corner. Incorporate Jewels and Gems – Crystal (5SM-03-4526-OZ) in the center of the flower.

Lid: Apply 2 coats of ivory acrylic to the lid’s outer rim. Using the lid as a template, trace and cut out a portion of No. 7 paper and glue onto the outer lid.  Cut out different collage elements from Collage Sheet – Red French Garden (5MT-RDFRGARD).  With Romance Elements – Scripted Heart (C8465) stamp with Distressed Ink Pad - Vintage Photo (5TH-TIM19527) onto a pink vellum sheet and cut out.  Adhere your collage elements onto No. 7 paper.  Apply lace trim along the lid’s bottom section.
