Lighten, blend and remove colors with Adirondack Alcohol Blending Solution. Intermix colors with each other and the Alcohol Blending Solution for an unlimited palette.
Cut a sheet of Clear PolyShrink Plastic (5LS-PS8/CL) into approximately one 2 1/4" circle, one 1 1/2" x 3 1/2" rectangle, one 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" square, and six 3/4" x 1 1/2" smaller rectangles. (Cut extra to test the method.) As seen in Tim Holtz's DVD "The Journey Continues" (5PG-TJC84309), completely melt Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel (UTEE) (5SW-SUZ09283) in a Melting Pot (5SW-SUZI4706), working on a Non-Stick Craft Sheet (5RI-NSC20677). Place shapes into melted UTEE, cover to keep surface of UTEE from cooling. Use spatula from Kool Toolz (5SW-SUZI5888) to turn shapes over until completely shrunk and laying flat at the bottom of the Melting Pot (Be Patient – the shrink plastic crumples while shrinking, but eventually lays flat!) With tweezers, carefully lift your "faux glass embellishment", placing it flat on the non-stick craft sheet. Let cool. Trim excess UTEE from edges. Repeat process for all shapes.
To add color to your "faux glass embellishment", draw alternating wavy lines of Lettuce from Farmer's Market Alcohol Ink set (5TH-TIM19769) and Gold Metallic Mixative (5TH-TIM21247) onto a piece of Felt (5TH-TIM20844) held by the Applicator (5TH-TIM20745). Gently stamp in the same direction to create "marbled" effect on the flat, matte underside of the circle shape. Use Cranberry from Farmer's Market Alcohol Ink set and Silver Metallic Mixative (5TH-TIM21247) and repeat process to stamp color on underside of rectangular piece, using new piece of felt. Use Lettuce alcohol ink and Silver Metallic Mixative in same way on new piece of felt and stamp undersides of square and smaller rectangular pieces.
Squeeze a line back and forth in your primary color of alcohol ink in an approximately 4 " x 5" area on a craft sheet. Squeeze lines of your selected metallic mixative between primary color lines. Dot your accent color of alcohol ink in and around other lines of ink. Finally, squeeze a few lines of Alcohol Blending Solution (5TH-TIM19800) over the other inks. Wait a few seconds to see inks reacting to blending solution. Drag and lift a 9" x 5 1/2" sheet of Glossy White Paper (5RI-PAP12887) through inks, turn paper and drag and lift through inks again, continue to turn, drag and lift until the entire sheet of paper is covered. Let dry.
Faux Glass Embellishment: Using Nick Bantock Vermillion Lacquer ink (5RRLACQUER), stamp small daisy image from Fresh Flower Elements (C8466) on to piece of glossy white paper. Using Glossy Accents (5DP-GAC17042), adhere stamped paper to back side of circle embellishment, pressing paper to mold to shape of the circle. Trim around embellishment, undercutting slightly. Use Lettuce alcohol ink as primary color, gold metallic mixative and Butterscotch from Nature's Walk Alcohol Ink set (5TH-TIM19789) as accent colors and technique above to create the metallic paper background. Trim with craft knife around bird, words and flowers of Warbler postcard from Cavallini's Birds & Nests Carte Postale (5CCP/BRD). Adhere cut out image and glass embellishment with glossy accents. Squeeze glossy accents onto red flowers to create dimension. Edge card with Vermillion Lacquer ink.
Use Cranberry alcohol ink as primary color, silver metallic mixative and Lettuce alcohol ink as accent colors and technique above to create the metallic paper background. Let dry and fold in half to create card. Using India Ink (5SSC-INDIA), stamp Elegant Stems (C8412) on the right side of card. Stain one of the Blank Metal Strips (5PRE-63019) using the same colors of alcohol inks directly to the metal. Use a piece of Cut-N-Dry Foam (5RI-CND14607) to blend the inks. Let dry. Then using India ink and the “Plaques” text stamp from the Fresh Flowers Elements, stamp onto metal strip. Embellish with chartreuse rhinestone from Neopolitan Rhinestones (5KC-564770). Adhere metal strip to left side of card. Using glossy accents, adhere rectangular faux glass embellishment to card as shown. Edge card with Vermillion Lacquer ink.
Faux Glass Embellishment: Using India Ink and “Love” text from Romance Elements (C8465), without acrylic mount, stamp the letters “O” and “V” onto front surface of square embellishment. Use Lettuce alcohol ink as primary color, silver metallic mixative and Butterscotch alcohol ink as accent colors and technique above to create the metallic paper background. Let dry and fold in half to create card. Using India Ink and “Love” text, stamp entire word, “Love” onto lower right corner of card. Using Nick Bantock’s Charcoal Grey Ink Pad (5RRGREY) and Scroll Heart image from Romance Elements set, stamp “smeared” image of heart; let dry. Using India Ink and same heart image and stamp over blurred heart image. Using glossy accents, adhere square embellishment over stamped word, matching “O” and “V” letters. Adhere chartreuse rhinestone in center of “O”. Adhere other small rectangles around heart as shown. Edge card with Charcoal Grey ink.
