Share Your Memories: Seeking Submissions from our Readers!

Artwork by Wendy Kwok

Stampington publishes almost 30 niche, mixed-media titles that are created from artwork submitted by readers and artists who support the handmade movement and want to share their passions with like-minded craft enthusiasts.

From time to time we post Calls and Challenges for our magazines based on what crafting themes the editorial team decides to feature. Right now, Jana Holstein, editor of Somerset Memories, is looking for a variety of projects that showcase your cherished photos.

Deadline for artwork to be received for the following challenges is November 15th.

Think Outside the Book
A collection of memories doesn’t always have to be presented in a book. How can you present a montage of milestones, celebrations, and everyday moments in a way that’s different and unique? We’re looking for collections of memorabilia, photos, and ephemera pieces that are compiled “outside the book.” If you spy a discarded folder or box, or something entirely different, snazz it up to match the style of your items, and send it on in! We are looking forward to discovering your treasures.

Strings Attached
Louise Nelson’s layout, “Up Up,” featured on the cover of our Spring 2012 issue has some wonderful elements that immediately draw your eye to the page. The bright orange thread makes it appear that the little girl is being pulled up into the air by a beautiful butterfly. This got us thinking — what other kinds of things might be found at the end of a piece of string? What would you attach? We’re sure you can thread some novel ideas together!

Gifts from the Heart
Have you created an amazing piece of memory art for your best friend? Or maybe a sweet keepsake for your new niece or special heritage ornaments for your favorite cousins? We’re looking for handcrafted gifts created for friends and family with a unique mixed-media touch. Whether you have a knack for embroidering wall décor pieces or enjoy painting anything and everything in sight, we want to see your artistic talent.

Artful Journals
Journaling has always been a fabulous way to chronicle your feelings, musings, hopes, and dreams. Here at Stampington, we think that hand journaling techniques are a special kind of memory art that can be cherished for years to come. Perhaps you’ve created pages in your journal that focus on the birth of your daughter, the graduation of your son, your feelings on being chosen for teaching a workshop, or a difficult time you experienced. We’re looking for artistically created journals that reflect who YOU are, so start tapping into your inner creativity.

  1. I submit to Take Ten and Stamper’s Sampler a lot and I would LOVE to submit to Somerset Memories …. But having to mail my layouts in, not knowing if they are going to be published, and then have to pay to have them mailed back, is a deterrent. Cards are smaller, and if I don’t get them back … no biggie. I bet there are a lot of talented scrapper’s out there who feel the same way. I’m wondering if you have ever considered email submissions?? Have a great day!

Hi Melisa! Love hearing that you are submitting to our stamping magazines. You are more than welcome to email photos of your scrapbook layouts to Jana Holstein, the editor of Somerset Memories, instead of sending them in via snail mail. Her email is jholstein@stampington.com. Best of luck!

  2. OH and I forgot to mention … all of the layouts you posted are AWESOME!!! Especially the last one!

  3. tina says:

I would love to submit my layouts but what is the best and safest method of mailing them in? Any ideas?

    thanks for helping
