Get 2012 off to a Creative Start!

Celebrate the New Year by making one resolution that you will actually ENJOY sticking to! Whether you are looking to refine a skill or begin an entirely new art form, resolve to do it now. Do you keep a collection of train tickets and movie passes with the intention of (eventually) creating a scrapbook? Want to revamp your wardrobe, but need to dust off your sewing machine? Evaluate your crafting repertoire, and open your mind to new creative paths and possibilities!

To keep your finger on the pulse of the creative world, we have put together seven Starter Kits, a handpicked collection of magazines and supplies to help you dabble in a new technique or craft. Get your friends in on the fun, and purchase these kits as gifts! Each kit also comes with a bonus DIY project, complete with color photos and step-by-step instructions.  See what else comes inside of them here!

After a New Year’s poll, here’s what the Stampington team resolves to do in 2012:

Write down my ideas before I forget them, and finish what I started!

- Jen Razo, Junior Designer

Try new crocheting and jewelry-making techniques, paint something on canvas, crochet a new afghan for my brother’s apartment, and make a new bed for my dog—I’ll try my best, Bailey!

- Laura Burns, Advertising Sales Manager

To make one handmade “Thank You” card for every month of the year.  It’s easy to get caught up with work and play, so I would like to share with others just how grateful I am they have put up with me all this time!

- Jordan Burnier, Marketing Manager

I’d love to learn how to emboss!

- Andrea Rango, Assistant Editor

My goal is to try and finish as many quilts as I can this year—sometimes I make two to three a month, and I want to try and beat that. Oh, and I want to organize all my fabric!

- Linda Wood, Customer Service Representative

My crafting resolution is to find more time to craft!

- Cheryl Kui, Operations Manager

I want to make my own version of the projects from Creative Impulse and Post Script!

- Ashleigh Fleury, Advertising Assistant Manager

(Are you currently receiving our free project inspirations via Creative Impulse and Post Script e-letters? Find out more here!)

As for me? My 2012 creative resolutions are to keep an art journal of my handwritten lettering doodles, take a letterpress class, seek out local craft fairs and buy handmade. I agree with my colleagues—I just need to find another couple hours in my day to craft.

When I find them, I’ll be sure to let you know!

Cheers to a crafty New Year–what are your artful resolutions?

I don’t make yearly resolutions, ’cause I never remember them! I have “lifetime” resolutions, which include making more time for friends and family and beautifying my world with my artful creations. I’m doing well on both counts! :)

  2. Dorothy C. says:

My artful resolution is to incorporate sewing into my paper crafting. My machine should be arriving today! It would be great to see some sewing inspiration on Creative Impulse. I love the paper bag ideas in today’s edition.

  3. Ellen says:

I want to photography ordinary, everyday gifts. Gifts that surround me in my daily life~ I want to capture them, like fireflies and make everyone see how poetic and extraordinary they truly are.

Happy New Year to you and the Stampington Staff!

  4. I am excited to take some online classes in mixed media. I am currently a cardmaker and a lot of my supplies will cross over into my new passion.

  5. Willie Luter says:

Very interesting. I added this to stumble upon
