Metal stamping projects are the hottest trend in jewelry making right now. Hammering the tags and blanks can be a great way to add a personal touch. Nothing is more satisfying than seeing letters and shapes appear in the metal after a good, solid thud of the hammer. Here is a collection of metal stamping projects that can inspire your own experiments with the technique. Make gift tags, necklaces, keychains, or boot belts with this technique and try the jewelry making method that everyone is talking about.

Pure Project

Add tags to delicious jams, jellies, and honey with this DIY project. This stamped tag can be used to advertise what scrumptious treat is inside, or to announce who the gift is for.  For added definition, run a permanent marker along the grooves of each letter, then clean up the impression with a paper towel soaked in rubbing alcohol.

Antique Boho Spoon Pendants Project by Johanna Love

Antique Boho Spoon Pendants metal stamping project These boho-chic spoon pendants are perfect for festival wear this summer.  Infuse these pendants with color by applying Ice Resin enamels in chevron designs to the bottom of the spoon shape. Finish the pendant with a strip of ribbon or lace that can be tied on with a decorative bow.  Whether you want to go, wander, or fly, these spoon pendants capture the wanderlust in us all.

Metal Stamped Dog Tag Project

Using our steel letter and number stamp set, we created these dog tags with inspirational words. However, this stamp set doesn’t have to be used on just metal. These stamping kits can also be used on leather, wax, or even chipboard. Create stamped leather cuffs, or imprinted candles, or decorative, chipboard embellishments — all with the same stamping tools!

Mixed-Media Mica Project

Mixed-Media Mica metal stamping project This Mixed-Media Mica Project blends the soft coloring of mica flakes with the vintage brass of stamped tags.  Artist Johanna Love stamped “Cheer” onto a vintage brass tag and added it to her deer ornament. The antlers are stamped onto a sheet of mica, and then mica flakes were used to create the face. The different tones of the mica create a color palette full of iridescent sparkle, while still being a neutral that can decorate your home all year long.

Woven Boot Belt Project

Create this Woven Boot Belt Project to spruce up your boots and match them to any outfit. The floral details on the outside of the belt are made with metal embellishments. Hammer them flat to keep the embellishments from being too bulky.

I love all of these, but the last necklace speaks to me, most. I recently found an Owl feather in the woods~ Sunlight illuminated it and I would love to wear it~ Thank you, for all the inspiration. I would be thrilled to wear any of these gorgeous offerings!
